Is amnesia the dark descent a scary game?

Just wondering what peoples opinion on the game are before i decide if i wanna get it or notIs amnesia the dark descent a scary game?
It's not like most games, it can be a very intense experience if you block out the real world(turning out the lights and using noise canceling headphones does help). One of the reasons this game actually succeeds to be scary while a lot of other games that try fail is because it keeps you in the dark, it doesn't reveal much to you, ever, you don't usually see the monster that's trying to kill you, and you can't really fight it, you're helpless in a lot of ways, and that element of the unknown is what sets the game apart. I do have to say though, if you are looking for a mainstream "horror" game, like doom 3 or Clive Barkers Jericho, this isn't like that. Personally, I recommend Amnesia.Is amnesia the dark descent a scary game?

Also at ign you can read the review, they say its one of the scariest games in recent memory.
