If a person gets amnesia, How does he remember how to speak a language, or even know how to read or write?

This guy on the news recently says he doesnt know who he is and has no memory of anything, but yet he talks in perfect english. Wouldn't you lose certain vocabulary and even lose any accent you may have? Amnesia can affect different areas of the brain. An amnesiac might not remember what he had for dinner yesteday but can remember how to read. It depends on which part of the brain has been damaged where certain memories are stored. It's the same thing with stroke victims and people with early stages of Altzheimer's.
Different centers of the brain control different actions such as language, motor skills, memory, etc. It all depends on what is causing your amnesia and what will be affected. Sometimes it is caused by a brain injury and other times psychological trauma. Just because someone can remember basic motor functions or language, but not their name does not mean they are faking. They can do scans to see what portions of the brain are functioning and in what manner. If a person gets amnesia, How does he remember how to speak a language, or even know how to read or write?
