If a person with amnesia CANNOT be identified by any means, what happens to them?

Let's say an adult with amnesia can't be identified by the police, and no one is stepping forward to identify them even with the help of media attention. What happens to this person? Where might they be sent?If a person with amnesia CANNOT be identified by any means, what happens to them?
Persons suffering from amnesia that have NO close family or friends to identify them will be sent to a state funded mental facility. There, DNA, dental records, or fingerprints wil be used to identify them. The next of kin will be alerted, and the patient will be moved to a mental facility somewhere else, where they will recieve treatment your their condition. If a person with amnesia CANNOT be identified by any means, what happens to them?
Megastar...this is a great question. They probably get put in a state funded nursing home, but even that's too good to be true in this uncaring planet....even homeless people (some) go to jail.

p.s. no clue as to the real answer, but there was a DVD on some guy in England who lost his identity (couldn't remember). He had a dissociative fugue, but someone was able to identify him. (google it) Perhaps you could post this in law enforcement and police...they would probably know the legal ramifications. If a person with amnesia CANNOT be identified by any means, what happens to them?
They wouldn't be 'sent' anywhere they would be treated for their condition in a mental hospital.
No idea, I've been wondering the same thing.
